Switch a Chinese-version Ampero II Stomp to English

Hotone Ampero II Stomp pedals sold for the Chinese market (often bought on AliExpress or Taobao) only offer Chinese under Global › Language. The English texts are in the firmware, but the language list is limited by a setting in the pedal's factory memory, so installing Hotone's international firmware doesn't help.

Dubshift fixes this with a small, free patch to the official firmware file. It runs in your browser: you load Hotone's file, tick English language unlock, build, and flash the result with Hotone's editor. After that both languages are listed and the pedal starts in English. Your presets keep working.

Which pedals and firmware

PedalFirmware
Ampero II Stomp (MP-300)2.4.0, 2.5.0Tested
Ampero II (MP-350)1.4.0Offered, not tested yet
Ampero Mini (MP-50)Being worked on

The builder accepts only these exact official files and refuses anything else, so a wrong file can't reach your pedal.

Step by step

  1. Back up your presets and IRs with the Hotone editor.
  2. Download the firmware for your pedal from Hotone's support page.
  3. Open the builder and drop the .zip or the .bin into it.
  4. Choose Stock if you only want English, or Dubshift to get the extra features as well (looper sync, LFOs, drum patterns, footswitch actions). Then tick English language unlock.
  5. Build and save the file. Keep the stock file too.
  6. Flash the new file with the current Hotone editor (Firmware Update). Older editor versions refuse every file with "firmware not compatible".
  7. After the restart, choose English under Global › Language.

Is it safe?

The patch changes four bytes in the function that reads the language setting; the factory memory itself is not written. To go back, flash the stock file from Hotone. If an update goes wrong, the pedal has a recovery mode that firmware updates can't overwrite: see If the pedal doesn't start. There is no warranty; read the flashing notes before you start.

Questions

Will a Hotone update bring Chinese back? Yes. Flashing any stock firmware brings the Chinese-only list back. Patch the new version once the builder supports it.

Are there other languages? No. The firmware has Chinese and English only.

Does it cost anything? No, the English unlock is always free.
